Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior DevOps/Build Engineer to lead CI/CD, build tooling, and cloud infrastructure for spacecraft-grade software stacks. You will own and optimize multi-team pipelines, packaging, and release workflows across firmware, ground systems, and cloud services.

Role emphasizes reliability, automation, and collaboration with perception, GNC, avionics, and systems engineering teams. Requires 10+ years in DevOps and cloud/CI/CD, with Python scripting proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS, Software/CE or related field.
10+ years of professional software engineering in DevOps, build/release, or cloud infra.
Experience managing builds/deployments with high test coverage and reproducibility.
Strong CI/CD design/operation for multi-team codebases.
Experience deploying cloud infra (AWS, GCP, Azure) and IaC (Terraform).
Linux development with scripting in Python or similar languages.
Experience with large versioned data assets and processing pipelines.
Strong software architecture, automated testing, and maintainable design.
Ability to resolve complex system issues and communicate across teams.
U.S. citizenship or eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Responsibilities

Lead design and operation of CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and cloud infrastructure for the VNS and GNC software stacks.
Build unified packaging and release management for firmware, spacecraft software, ground systems, and cloud services.
Create test and release workflows for multiple teams to ensure high test coverage and reproducibility.
Own and improve build tooling; optimize CI and build times to improve engineer productivity.
Manage shared testing pipelines to improve PR merge speed and velocity.
Support data processing pipelines and visualization tooling on the ground and in the cloud.
Design and manage storage, versioning, and distribution for large versioned data assets.
Support infrastructure for ML training workflows, including compute provisioning and dataset management.
Design, review, and maintain cloud infrastructure focusing on reliability, security, and cost.
Establish developer workflows, automation, and documentation to improve reliability and velocity.
Partner with perception, GNC, avionics, flight software, systems engineering, and mission operations teams.
Diagnose complex build, deployment, and infrastructure issues; contribute to architectural decisions and mentor engineers.
