Job summary

MXI Partners is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead critical facility operations in the greater Columbus area. You will be the senior technical on-site lead, owning day-to-day operations and directing a large team of engineers and technicians.

The role is on-site, with responsibilities spanning power, cooling, safety, and vendor management. You will drive maintenance programs, incident response, and process improvements while supporting customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in mission critical operations.
• 3+ years leading MEP operations in a Tier III, colocation, or hyperscale data center.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with CMMS and BMS and formal incident/change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations and maintenance of a mission critical facility.
• Take ownership of the full critical infrastructure: power, cooling, switchgear, generators, and safety systems.
• Build and run maintenance programs, procedures, and change management.
• Lead incident response and act as escalation point for critical events.
• Manage contract technicians and vendors, and be the main on-site contact for customers.
• Drive efficiency and reliability improvements across the site.
• Join an on-call rotation for out-of-hours support.
