Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Scientific Informatics Lead to drive chemistry-focused ELN and data-management solutions across discovery, medicinal, synthetic, and process chemistry. You will translate complex workflows into scalable platform capabilities and lead cross‑functional teams.

The ideal candidate has strong chemistry domain expertise and hands‑on ELN experience (Dotmatics or similar) with a track record delivering end‑to‑end informatics solutions in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Strong domain expertise in medicinal, synthetic, process chemistry, or discovery research.
• Hands-on experience with chemistry-focused ELN and scientific informatics platforms.
• Experience capturing experiments, reactions, structures, stoichiometry, and inventory data.
• Experience gathering requirements, configuring workflows, testing, releases, and support.
• Proven ability to lead informatics platforms beyond basic end-user support.
• Familiarity with multiple ELN platforms (Signals Notebook, BIOVIA, IDBS, Benchling, PerkinElmer).
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, REST APIs, data integrations, and data quality management.
• Experience in pharmaceutical R&D or regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Bachelor/Master/Doctoral degrees in related fields.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements discovery for chemistry experiments, reactions, compounds, and inventory management.
• Translate workflows into user stories, specifications, data mappings, and acceptance criteria.
• Provide senior oversight for ELN configuration, testing, deployment, and support.
• Design and optimize workflows for experiment capture, reaction management, and inventory tracking.
• Guide integrations with compound registration, inventory platforms, and analytical systems.
• Support governance, metadata management, reporting, and data quality initiatives.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams including chemists, informatics, validation, and security.
• Develop SOPs, training materials, release notes, and platform documentation.
• Support platform modernization, migration, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
