Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer specializing in process optimization to join our client's team in East London, Eastern Cape. You will analyze existing processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to improve yield, safety, and sustainability in research and development operations.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in chemical engineering, extensive experience with process modeling and simulation (Aspen Plus, HYSYS), and a proven track record
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering with a focus on process optimization and analysis.
- Proven expertise in process modeling, simulation, and data analysis tools.
- Experience with safety and environmental regulations relevant to chemical processes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing chemical processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement process optimization strategies, including modifying operating conditions, equipment, or materials.
- Utilize process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model and predict process behavior.
- Design and conduct pilot studies or experiments to validate optimization strategies.
- Ensure processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with R&D teams, plant engineers, and operational staff to implement process changes.
- Troubleshoot process issues and develop corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, recommendations, and process documentation.
