Job summary

IGE Performance Chemicals in Mountain Top, PA seeks an experienced Chemical Engineer to lead the scale-up from R&D to pilot production and mass manufacturing. You will design pilot-scale processes, specify manufacturing equipment, and refine methods with a focus on safety during scale-up.

The role requires a strong background in chemical engineering, hands-on equipment experience, CFD modeling with COMSOL, and CAD proficiency with SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of Chemical Engineering experience; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering is required.
• Proficient in analytical chemistry techniques.
• Hands-on experience in building test units and prototypes.
• Familiarity with reactors, filtration units, hydrogenation, distillation, dryers, etc.
• Experience with CFD tools such as COMSOL is preferred.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, etc., is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a detail-oriented, team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and connect reactors, heating units, piping, and other infrastructure needed to perform chemical reactions.
• Lead design setup and procurement of manufacturing equipment.
• Lead in the design of pilot scale production process.
• Conduct research for new products to be synthesized.
• Research and order precursors and raw materials to be synthesized.
• Assist in laboratory testing of raw material and finished products.
• Work with the R&D team to create SOPs and safety procedures.
