Job summary

Tampa Electric is seeking a Sr Checkpoint Firewall Engineer, Progression, to plan, implement, and support advanced network and security infrastructure. Focus areas include Check Point Maestro, VPN design, and high‑availability in a large enterprise environment.

The role requires hands-on experience with Windows, VMware, DDoS protection, WAFs, NetScaler, and Cisco networking, with a security‑minded approach to compliance and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years of related hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Windows, VMware, firewall support, DDoS protection, proxies, WAFs, NetScaler load balancers, or Cisco Networking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent IT discipline (e.g., MIS).
• Related network and information security certifications (e.g., CCNA, CISSP, CEH) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement, and support network, server, and storage infrastructure.
• Manage security controls including firewalls, proxies, WAFs, NAC, ACLs per standards.
• Maintain NERC CIP, SOX, and PCI compliance and disaster recovery plans.
• Provide third‑level technical support for security systems and authentication mechanisms.
• Design and implement VPN solutions for enterprise environments.
• Support high availability and large-scale enterprise networks.
