Job summary

Tampa Electric is hiring a Firewall Engineer focused on Checkpoint and VPN, at Bearss Operations Center, FL. The role covers network security controls, firewall, VPN, WAFs, and compliance with CIP/SOX/PCI standards, with progression toward senior levels.

Ideal candidates bring Palo Alto and VPN experience, strong design and support capabilities, and the ability to operate in large enterprise environments with HA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent IT discipline (MIS).
• Minimum four (4) years of related hands-on experience in Windows, VMware, firewall support, DDoS protection, proxies, WAFs, or Cisco Networking.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CISSP, CEH or similar.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement network, server, and storage infrastructure per project requirements.
• Provide security consulting and support for IT infrastructure across multiple platforms (firewalls, proxies, WAFs, NAC).
• Install and support network and security hardware and software; participate in disaster recovery planning.
