Technical Engineer III – Firewall Engineer
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Technical Engineer III – Firewall Engineer to join their Technology Infrastructure and Service Delivery organization. This role will focus on the engineering, administration, support, optimization, and lifecycle management of enterprise network security technologies, with a strong emphasis on Check Point firewall solutions.
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience supporting complex enterprise security environments and a strong foundation in network engineering, firewall administration, troubleshooting, and security operations. This individual will work closely with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and internal clients to design and implement secure, reliable solutions that align with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, maintain, and optimize Check Point firewall solutions in a large enterprise environment.
- Support Check Point Security Gateways, Management Servers, and SmartConsole.
- Work with internal clients and stakeholders to understand network security requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Configure and manage firewall policies, rules, access controls, NAT, and related security configurations.
- Deploy and support Check Point solutions utilizing Virtual System Stacking (VSS) and Maestro technologies.
- Perform firewall installations, upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes while minimizing operational disruption.
- Troubleshoot complex firewall and network security incidents using logs, packet captures, and rule analysis.
- Analyze network traffic and security alerts to identify and mitigate potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Work with cross‑functional infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to integrate firewall solutions with other enterprise technologies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in capacity planning, business continuity planning, disaster recovery exercises, and technology lifecycle management.
- Support audit and compliance activities and ensure solutions align with applicable security standards.
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters, engineers, management, and other stakeholders within an Agile delivery environment.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other engineers.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, technical standards, and operational processes.
- Participate in vendor and product lifecycle management activities.
- Translate complex technical concepts and security requirements for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Adapt to changing business priorities and technical requirements while maintaining a strong focus on security and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a technical engineering role supporting, maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing enterprise application security or network security environments.
- Hands‑on experience configuring, deploying, supporting, and maintaining Check Point firewalls or closely related enterprise firewall technologies.
- Experience working with complex, highly available enterprise network environments.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, ports, protocols, and network security concepts.
- Experience with network technologies including:
- Routers and switches
- Firewalls
- VPNs
- NAT
- Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS)
- Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
- Web Application and API Protection (WAAP)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience analyzing firewall logs, security events, packet captures, and firewall rules.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and internal clients.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into language that can be understood by non‑technical audiences.

Certifications
Relevant technology or cybersecurity certifications are preferred, including:
- Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA)

- Check Point Certified Professional (CCP)
- Check Point Certified Expert (CCE)
- CISSP
- CompTIA Security+
- Other relevant network or cybersecurity certifications
