Tampa Electric is hiring a Firewall Engineer to design, implement, and support network security across on‑premises and cloud environments. You will work primarily with Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and VPN technologies, contributing to high availability and disaster recovery planning.

The role targets progression within the Network & Systems Security team, collaborating with Telecommunication and IT operations to safeguard critical infrastructure across the West Central Florida region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent IT discipline.
• Minimum four years of hands‑on network/security experience.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise firewall, VPN, and WAF concepts.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement network, server, and storage infrastructure to meet project requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex security controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead disaster recovery planning and documentation.
• Provide security consulting across multiple platforms (firewalls, proxies, WAFs, NAC).
• Coordinate with telecommunication teams for circuit upgrades and connectivity.
