Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Specialist Claims in the Hartford Global Specialty Liability Major Case Unit in Alpharetta, GA to manage a caseload of primary and excess bodily injury and property damage claims, including complex litigated matters.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience, strong coverage knowledge, and excellent negotiation and communication skills. This role offers hybrid or remote work with optional office presence as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; law degree a plus.
• Minimum of five years handling both primary and excess policy coverages/claims including complex litigated commercial general liability matters.
• Strong coverage acumen with the ability to apply manuscript policies to claim facts.
• Disciplined, results-oriented and able to focus on bottom line results.
• Superior analytical ability and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and analyze and evaluate information.
• Make coverage determinations and communicate position to insureds and required parties.
• Set reserves and monitor for adjustments within authority levels.
• Present cases to management for reserve authority above levels.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies for high-quality outcomes.
• Manage litigation and counsel, including budgeting and bill review.
• Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
• Contribute to claim and enterprise goals through audits and initiatives.
• Prepare reports and deliver presentations to senior claim leadership.
• Work with partners to address claim trends; respond to inquiries from agents and policyholders.
