Qualifications

• At least 5 years of Commercial General Liability litigation claims experience with an insurance carrier.
• Independent handling of complex, litigated CGL claims from investigation through resolution.
• Strong knowledge of liability analysis, coverage interpretation, settlement negotiation, and litigation management.
• Experience working directly with defense counsel on litigation strategy and claim resolution.
• Ability to analyze contracts, leases, indemnification provisions, and risk transfer opportunities.
• Strong written communication skills, including drafting coverage position letters.
• State adjuster licenses or the ability to obtain and maintain required licenses.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; industry designations are a plus.
• Important qualification: Direct insurance carrier experience required; TPAs excluded.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex litigated CGL claims with disputed coverage and damages.
• Investigate, analyze evidence, and evaluate policy language.
• Negotiate settlements with defense counsel.
• Review contracts and leases for indemnification and risk transfer.
• Prepare coverage position letters.
• Manage litigation expenses and participate in mediations/arbitrations.
• Identify suspicious claims and determine next steps.
• Serve as a technical resource to other claims professionals.
• Maintain relationships with policyholders and risk managers.
