Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert medical assistant support under physician or RN supervision. The role includes assisting examinations, procedures and dressing changes, while ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards.

The Sr. MA will also oversee EMR-related tasks, train others as a preceptor, and may schedule appointments and verify care eligibility, contributing to a smoothly run clinic

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT, and BLS.
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Responsibilities

• Assists with examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatments and dressing changes.
• Provides high quality patient care under physician or RN supervision.
• Oversees scope of practice and acts as EMR super-user where applicable.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Serve as preceptor and clinical resource to Medical Assistants.
