Job summary

The City of New Haven is seeking an enthusiastic Elderly Services Program Manager to oversee the daily operations of a multi-purpose senior center, serving adults 60 and older. You will coordinate programs, events, and services, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment and strong community partnerships.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, or related field, 1–3 years serving older adults, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, and strong organizational

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience working with older adults, preferably in a community center or social service setting.
• In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, an additional 4 years of directly related experience may be substituted.
• Spanish/English bilingual is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages the opening and closing procedures of the designated facility.
• Schedules instructors, guest speakers, and contract service providers.
• Coordinates the daily congregate meal program, ensuring health and safety compliance.
• Develops a diverse calendar of activities for program participants, including fitness classes, arts & crafts, educational seminars, and social clubs.
• Maintains records of daily attendance, program participation, and volunteer hours.
• Assists with recruitment, training, and supervision of center volunteers.
