Job summary

The Town of East Hartford is seeking a part-time Senior Center Program Specialist to support and engage our 55+ community. Under supervision, you will oversee senior center programs and develop services for the aging population of East Hartford.

Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and coordinating programs, coordinating volunteers, and preparing reports. This is a grant-funded, 20-hour/week role with evenings, weekends, and special events as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Recreation program, Human Services or closely related field.
• Two years’ experience in providing programs or related services; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Ability to plan, develop and oversee a variety of programs for seniors.

Responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates trips for seniors 55+; works with tour companies, theaters, restaurants.
• Coordinate and implement outdoor and active programs for seniors 55+.
• Coordinate volunteers at the senior center for various duties.
• Plans in-house programs during evening hours and assists daytime supervisor as needed.
• Monitors fitness gym and participants evenings, weekends, and other times as needed.
• Prepare narrative and statistical reports as needed.
• Assists at the front desk to greet guests and register participants.
