Job summary

Innovative Senior Center seeks a Maintenance Worker to keep the facility clean, safe, and welcoming for older adults. You will perform daily cleaning, monitor repairs, and support event setup in classrooms, auditorium, and activity spaces. Duties include breaking down recyclables, waste removal, and reporting facility concerns.

The role is on-site in Flushing, NY, offering full-time hours with an hourly pay range of $21–$24, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or 6 months to 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to perform physical cleaning and maintenance tasks, including lifting up to 200 pounds occasionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently with attention to detail.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 200 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the center daily, including offices, kitchens, restrooms, and common areas.
• Set up rooms for programs and events, especially auditorium and art room schedules.
• Collect and dispose garbage and recyclables; coordinate curbside pickup.
• Monitor building safety equipment and report needs to Program/Assistant Director.
• Perform end-of-day facility checks and ensure lights, AC off, doors locked.
• Complete daily kitchen maintenance checklist with kitchen staff.
• Complete mandatory trainings and maintain policies compliance.
