Job summary

Selfhelp is seeking a Facilities Associate to clean and maintain the older adult center, monitor repairs, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for participants, visitors, and staff.

The role covers daily cleaning, setup for programs, waste disposal, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance needs to the Program Director. Must be physically capable of lifting up to 35 pounds, with occasional heavy-lift tasks up to 200 pounds, and possess a High School diploma or GED.

Job description

Position Summary:

Cleans and maintains the older adult center。Monitors repair needs in the older adult center。

Principal Responsibilities：

• Maintain cleanliness throughout the center by sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing all office spaces, kitchen areas, dining rooms, restrooms, closets, classrooms, and the auditorium on a daily basis.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for participants, visitors, and staff at all times.
• Polish, strip, and scrape floors as needed to maintain facility standards.
• Set up classrooms, the auditorium, and activity spaces with the necessary furniture and equipment to support scheduled programs and events, particularly activities held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in the auditorium, and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the art room.
• Break down, cut, and securely bundle cardboard boxes and other recyclable materials for proper disposal and recycling.
• Collect and remove garbage and recycling from all designated areas on a daily basis. Transport and set out garbage and recyclable materials for curbside pickup in accordance with collection schedules every Monday and Thursday night.
• Clean, disinfect, and replenish restroom supplies at least three times daily to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
• Promptly address wet or hazardous floor conditions by mopping and drying surfaces during inclement weather, spills, or other situations to maintain safety.
• Conduct end-of-day facilities checks to verify that lights and air conditioning are turned off, doors are locked, and all equipment and materials are neatly stored and organized.
• Report any visible facility damage, such as leaks, holes, broken fixtures, or maintenance concerns, to Hugo and notify Karen accordingly.
• Monitor building and safety equipment and promptly inform the Program Director (PD) or Assistant Director (AD) when replacement items are needed, including light bulbs, batteries, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, or other facility-related equipment, to ensure timely purchasing and replacement.
• Complete the daily kitchen maintenance checklist in coordination with kitchen staff.
• Comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements by completing all mandatory annual training programs in a timely manner, including but not limited to harassment prevention, information technology security awareness, compliance, OSHA, HIPAA, and other required trainings.
• Support the organization's mission and values by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in all job duties.
• Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and adhere to organizational policies regarding attendance, appearance, health, safety, and workplace conduct.

Salary Range: $21 - $24 per hour commensurate with experience.

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications：

• High School diploma or General Education; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Needs to perform the physical activities associated with cleaning and maintenance

Working Conditions/Physical Demand：

• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds。
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles, and the occasional risk of electrical shock。
• Must be able to attend meetings and other out-of-office errands or functions by using public or private transportation。
