Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field Inspector for our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team. This on-site role involves inspecting roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic activities at project sites.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant certifications, and the ability to travel 20%–40%. The position requires strong knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction, plus experience reading construction

Qualifications

• Requires ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written).
• Knowledge of geometry and trigonometry is desirable.
• Ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans, drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work with supervision appropriate to knowledge level and assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervision.
