Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a Construction Inspector to inspect and monitor highway construction activities at project sites nationwide. The role requires performing complex inspections across roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion and maintenance/traffic categories, under limited supervision.

You will interpret plans, specs and contract provisions, document results, and communicate findings to the supervisor. Travel up to 40% may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and processes meet plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under appropriate supervision depending on assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
