Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to join our CEI team on on-site projects across multiple locations in the United States. The role requires inspecting roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion, and maintenance activities, reading plans, and communicating findings to supervision.

Travel up to 40% may be needed. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, relevant certifications, a valid driver's license, and 12 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify materials and construction conform to plans and specs.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge for the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
