Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team seeks a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. The inspector must perform complex inspections across roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance categories with attention to plans, specs, and provisions.

The role requires reading drawings, applying construction knowledge, and communicating results. Travel up to 40% and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET if required by the client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction meet plans and specs.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
