Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector/CEI to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. The role covers roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic areas, with travel between multiple locations.

You will review plans, apply construction knowledge, and communicate results under limited supervision, ensuring compliance with specifications and contract provisions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt, concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify materials and processes meet plans, specs, and provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision or independently depending on assignment knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection and document results.
• Communicate findings to supervisor and follow up as needed.
