Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking an Inspector to perform complex and routine highway construction inspections at project sites listed across multiple locations. The role requires reading drawings, interpreting specs, and coordinating with the supervisor.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant certifications (ACI or NICET), a valid driver's license, and about 12 years of related experience. Domestic/international travel up to 40% may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• Uses higher grade of equipment and performs complex calculations to perform construction inspection.
• Works under limited supervision or direct supervision depending on the demonstrated knowledge for the specific assignment.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for the construction inspection.
• Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected. Documenting and communicating the results of the inspection and communicates to the supervisor.
