Job summary

CDM Smith’s Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team seeks an on-site Inspector to perform complex construction inspections across roadway, bridge, drainage and traffic categories. The role requires reading plans, calculating using advanced methods, and communicating results to supervision at project sites nationwide.

Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma, 12 years of related experience, and relevant certifications (ACI/NICET).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national body such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt and concrete if required by client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction conform to plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspections.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
