Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a field inspector to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. This on-site role requires experience across roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control, or maintenance and traffic areas.

You will work with a team on multiple locations, travel up to 40%, and provide complex inspection support under varying supervision levels. Strong reading of plans and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• English communication skills (verbal & written).
• Basic geometry/trigonometry knowledge.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Ability to learn new technologies rapidly and adapt to field apps.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment for highway construction.
• Ability to read, interpret construction plans, specs and contract provisions.
• Ability to lead and teach junior inspectors.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure standards.
• Use advanced equipment and perform complex calculations for inspection.
• Work under supervision appropriate to skill level for the assignment.
• Review drawings and prepare for site inspections.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
