Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at the project site(s). Inspector must be able to perform the most complex inspection activities for at least two of the five categories: roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion and control, and maintenance and traffic.

Travel may be required. You will read drawings, document inspection results, and communicate findings to your supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if materials and processes conform to plans and provisions.
• Uses higher grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspections.
• Works under supervision depending on assignment.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for the construction inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to the supervisor.
