Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector for the CEI team to perform complex and routine inspections on transportation construction projects across multiple site locations in the United States. The role requires reading plans, interpreting specifications, and communicating clearly with supervision.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, relevant certifications, a valid driver’s license, and extensive experience in highway construction. Travel up to 40% may be involved as projects demand.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure materials and processes meet plans, specifications, and provisions.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for construction inspection.
• Works under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment knowledge.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to the supervisor.
