Job summary

160 Driving Academy, the nation’s largest CDL training network, seeks an experienced Class A Instructor Trainer. You’ll teach students from pre‑trip inspection to CDL test day in yards and on the road, working with a Lead Instructor.

This local, hands‑on role keeps you home nightly, with merit increases and a monthly bonus pool tied to performance; you will also help keep training records, cover nearby yards, mentor students, and support safety and curriculum adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL with minimum 24 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience (Nevada exception: 5 years).
• The state issuing your license must match the state you are applying to work in.
• Manual transmission experience — licensed to operate and teach manual transmission.
• MVR free of violations and able to pass DOT physical and DOT-mandated drug/alcohol screening.
• Residence in the applying state or secured relocation, and 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills through hands-on training in outdoor yards on both automatic and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving to CDL standards.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing on the first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress, provide additional support when needed.
• Maintain training records, evaluations, and documentation.
• Report incidents and accidents to lead and corporate promptly.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors to deliver a consistent student experience and curriculum.
• Assist with yard upkeep and cover for other instructors at nearby yards when needed.
• Assist with transfer of trucks to repair operations and neighboring yards as required.
