Job summary

Optum is seeking a CDI Manager in Phoenix to lead and optimize clinical documentation review programs for inpatient care. The role requires RN licensure, 3+ years CDI experience, and 1+ year of CDI leadership, with CCDS/CDIP/CCS certifications preferred.

You will partner with physicians to drive documentation quality and support client operations. You will oversee staff performance, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations while coordinating with HIM and Quality teams to meet

Qualifications

• Active RN license or FMG designation recognized for CDI leadership.
• 3+ years CDI experience with inpatient acute care settings.
• 1+ year leadership/management within a CDI program with certifications (CCDS, CDIP, CCS).
• Experience reviewing CDI quality metrics and chart/KPI audits.
• Strong collaboration with physicians for documentation improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and healthcare software.
• Willing to work onsite in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily CDI operations, staffing, and service levels.
• Oversee onboarding, training, performance reviews, and coaching of CDI staff.
• Monitor CDI quality metrics, chart audits, KPI reporting; implement action plans.
• Partner with CDI Director for client meetings, reporting, and initiatives.
• Ensure inpatient records are reviewed within timeframes; oversee query processes.
• Lead physician education sessions and documentation improvement presentations.
• Coordinate with HIM Coding, Care Coordination, Quality Management, and Physician Advisors.
