Job summary

Heraeus Medevio in Fridley, MN is seeking a Product Development Engineer III who will lead catheter prototyping from concept to prototype evaluation, translating customer needs into engineering requirements and documenting design decisions.

You will work with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to iterate designs, develop test methods, and support design verification and risk management in a regulated quality system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (strongly preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience; 1 year for a graduate degree and 3 years for a doctorate.
• Experience designing catheter-based medical devices or components.
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating catheter prototypes.
• Proficient with 3D CAD modeling and production-quality 2D drawings; strong documentation.
• Experience bench-level testing and using data to guide design decisions.
• Understanding of design controls within a regulated quality system.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on catheter prototype development from concept through evaluation and testing.
• Translate needs into measurable engineering requirements and maintain traceability.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, specs, and build documentation.
• Select materials and joining methods; build/modify prototypes with appropriate techniques.
• Develop and execute prototype test methods and bench setups to evaluate performance.
• Analyze data to identify failure modes and drive design decisions.
