Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Marlborough, MA is hiring a Category Merchant to drive product selection, vendor negotiations and category profitability. This hybrid role requires strategic leadership across merchandising and cross-functional teams to meet financial objectives and deliver a superior customer experience.

You’ll collaborate with marketing and operations, build competitive assortments, and manage price strategies while mentoring the merchandise team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
• 4+ years merchandising / category management experience.
• Negotiation skills and decision-making ability.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the performance of assigned categories including driving growth, category profitability and customer experience.
• Responsible for product selection and development of competitive merchandise assortment plans that achieve financial objectives.
• Negotiates pricing and terms with new, existing and prospective vendors.
• Builds relationships with the vendor community and negotiates flexibly.
• Oversees the development of sales and margin plans and forecasts for assigned categories.
• Communicates merchandising strategies to cross functional teams for timely execution.
• Connects strategies to business operations and goals.
