Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner, Casualty for the Middle Market Casualty Team. The role manages commercial claims for high severity, complex GL and related excess/umbrella policies across the U.S.

You will negotiate resolutions, review coverage issues, and lead strategy with internal teams and external counsel. Hybrid in-office 3 days per week, travel up to 10%, and a strong licensing background are expected.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of casualty claims experience with primary or excess carrier
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Willing to travel 10% and work in a hybrid in-office schedule (3 days/week)

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft letters, and retain coverage counsel when needed
• Develop and implement strategy related to coverage issues
• Develop timely resolution strategies to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures
• Maintain contact with claims staff, underwriters, counsel, program manager, and broker
• Investigate claims and review insured materials, pleadings, and documents
• Identify and review jurisdictional statutes, rules, and case law
• Review litigation materials including depositions and expert reports
• Analyze risk transfer and indemnity issues; direct counsel as needed
• Analyze coverage, liability and damages for reserves and reporting
• Prepare written/oral reports for senior management on issues and reserves
• Travel for mediations and trials as required
• Negotiate resolutions of claims
• Select and utilize structure brokers
• Maintain diary of claims and respond to inquiries promptly
