Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Principal Casting & Metallurgical Engineer to act as the technical leader for molten metal processing and casting across multiple facilities. You will drive large-scale improvements, mentor teams, and lead deep technical investigations while partnering with plant leadership and R&D.

Requirements include a metallurgy-related degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; advanced degrees and 7+ years are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience supporting casting, metallurgy, molten metal processing, or manufacturing operations.
• Experience with casting process optimization, defect reduction, root cause analysis, and process improvement.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive technical initiatives.
• Preferred: Master's or PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• Preferred: 7+ years in casting, molten metal processing, melting, recycling, or process metallurgy.
• Preferred: experience with large-scale casting operations and process modeling/simulation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical expert for casting, melting, and molten metal processes across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Lead complex troubleshooting efforts involving casting quality, metal recovery, process variability, and operational performance.
• Develop and implement best practices to improve quality, productivity, recovery, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with plant leadership, engineering, operations, quality, and R&D teams to solve critical manufacturing challenges.
• Lead cross-functional technology and process improvement initiatives.
• Analyze operational and production data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support new technology evaluations and implementation of emerging casting and metallurgical processes.
• Train and mentor engineers, metallurgists, and operations personnel.
• Standardize technical practices and drive knowledge sharing across facilities.
• Support capacity improvement initiatives through process optimization and workflow enhancements.
• Promote a culture of operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
