Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Cash Application and Collections to lead the cash‑application and collections teams in Jacksonville, FL.

You will own the back half of the order‑to‑cash cycle, ensuring timely receipts, accurate application, and robust dispute resolution. You will manage AR health metrics, establish credit policies, and partner with Sales, Real Estate, and Legal to optimize collections while preserving customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritize and carry out daily duties with minimal supervision.
• Experience in commercial collections and credit management, including negotiating payment arrangements.
• Balance collection pressure with the commercial relationship and know when to Escalate.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask to meet aggressive time schedules.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools applied to receivables and ability to validate machine results.
• Ability to think strategically and lead two related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily management of the Cash Application team, ensuring timely and accurate application of customer receipts.
• Own the Collections function and AR portfolio performance, including DSO, aging, and bad debt expense.
• Establish and maintain credit and collections policy and dunning cadence.
• Direct collection activity on past-due accounts and negotiate payment plans.
• Manage customer credit reviews and monitoring of limits and exposure.
• Partner with Sales, Real Estate and other groups on at-risk accounts and disputes.
• Analyze disputes for systemic causes and drive upstream corrective action.
• Coordinate with Legal on demand letters and write-off recommendations.
• Own bad debt reserve analysis and approvals.
• Set performance objectives and training plans; assist with strategic planning.
• Review reports and reconcile GL accounts related to cash and AR.
• Serve as SME on financial system software for cash, collections and receivables.
