Overview

Position: Senior Case Manager, Community Program Staten Island
Location: Staten Island, NY
Employment type: Full-time

Responsibilities
  • Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into work with clients.
  • Conduct client-centered safety assessments and risk management planning. Provide crisis intervention and direct assistance to victims of crime and abuse; develop creative solutions reflecting clients’ unique needs in collaboration with clients.
  • Advocate for clients for public entitlements with systems and other agencies, such as orders of protection, hospital/medical needs, Office of Victims Services compensation, and relocation assistance.
  • Provide information and referrals and facilitate linkages for services such as shelters, mental health treatment, public assistance and other entitlements based on assessment and clients’ needs.
  • Assess for and provide emergency practical assistance for clients including transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance and lock replacement in accordance with agency policy.
  • Engage in regular supervision meetings with supervisors to review cases, reflect on client interaction and build skills.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics in the web-based case management system.
  • Collect client data, test new interventions and track outcomes. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, community meetings and relevant trainings/seminars.
  • Conduct educational presentations and trainings and participate in outreach events for community groups about intimate partner and family violence, victim assistance resources and related topics.
  • Work collaboratively with other Safe Horizon programs to facilitate linkages for clients; perform various other duties as determined by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge and Skills: Must be sensitive to victimization; demonstrate respect, compassion and a non-judgmental approach to victims of crime and abuse; willingness to participate in a learning community; organized, detail oriented and solution focused; ability to work independently and be resourceful; leadership skills; team player; strong communication and organizational skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure calmly and reassuringly.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, etc.) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience: At least one year of direct service experience in a social service setting is required; experience with survivors of intimate partner and family violence and other victims of crime preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic, Korean) preferred.
