Job summary

The Waters of Sullivan is hiring a Cook for its long-term care facility in Sullivan, Indiana. The Cook will prepare meals in accordance with menus, ensure dietary policies are followed, and coordinate with nursing and dietitian teams to meet resident nutrition needs.

The role requires sanitation certification, ability to work with large quantities, and basic English literacy. High school diploma or equivalent and independent decision-making are expected.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or equivalent.
• One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred (but not necessary).
• Must have a sanitation certificate
• Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Reviews menus prior to preparation of food.
• Ensures menus are maintained and filed per policy.
• Prepares meals according to planned menus.
• Coordinates dietary service with other departments as necessary.
• Works with the facility’s dietitian and implements recommended changes.
