Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Part time Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and assist with daily living activities under supervision, in accordance with plans of care and organizational policies. You will support residents, observe changes, assist with transfers, prepare meals, maintain confidentiality, and participate in in-services, with emphasis on safety, compassion, and teamwork.

This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adherence to the organization’s code

Qualifications

• You must have completed a PSW program or provincial equivalent with practical hours.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to perform personal care duties and support daily living activities.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification is required.
• Must provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Check / Criminal Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as determined by the supervisor.
• Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition to supervisor.
• Escalate medical emergencies to supervisor or EMS as appropriate.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and use of adaptive aids.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment and proper equipment handling.
• Attend in-services to develop knowledge and skills.
