Job summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) at Good Samaritan Canistota Center provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. Care activities include bathing, dressing, mobility, vital signs, and psychosocial support as outlined in each resident’s plan of care.

MAs administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse, document outcomes, communicate changes to the charge nurse, assist with meals, and support wellness and recreational

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• State-specific CMA/TMA certification required where CNA is obtained.
• Must have CMA/TMA certification per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a charge nurse.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Record and communicate vital signs and care-related information.
• Assist residents with transfers, mobility, and range-of-motion activities.
• Assist with meals, dining experience, and routine housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Participate in wellness and recreational programs and document outcomes.
