Job summary

Good Samaritan, Canistota, SD, seeks a Medication Assistant (MA) to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living support under the supervision of a charge nurse. The role includes administering prescribed medications per state regulations, recording outcomes, and assisting with daily activities to maintain resident well-being.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CMA/TMA/CNA certifications as applicable by state, and ongoing competency testing with annual CE credits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Must complete yearly competency testing and continuing education credits (12 hours annually).
• State-specific CMA/TMA certification requirements may apply (CMA/TMA per state).
• Active CNA registration or ability to obtain within 120 days is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a charge nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and basic health care needs, including vital signs and documenting outcomes.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Assist with meals, dining experiences, and housekeeping tasks to support resident well-being.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in departmental initiatives as needed.
