Job summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) at Good Samaritan in Canistota, SD serves as a caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, vital signs, meals, documentation, and reporting changes to the charge nurse. You may administer medications as delegated and participate in wellness programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Annual continuing education: at least 12 hours and state-required certifications.
• State-specific CMA/CNA certifications required or obtainable within 120 days in the practice state.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under a charge nurse.
• Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility; monitor vital signs.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and document outcomes.
• Communicate changes in residents' condition and care needs to the charge nurse.
• Support dining, housekeeping, and wellness activities as part of overall care.
