Job summary

Hathorne Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Hathorne is seeking an Activity Assistant to join our caring team on a full-time basis. You will assist the Director of Activities in planning and delivering engaging programs that meet the recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual and social needs of residents.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic literacy, and the ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must implement and interpret programs, goals, policies, and procedures of the department.
• Maintain patient rights and safety and sanitation; communicate effectively within the team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs (entertainment, exercise, relaxation, education).
• Chart patient progress and behavior descriptively.
• Escort patients to and from activities.
• Conduct regular in-room visits to patients not participating in group activities.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.
• Assist in evacuation procedures when necessary.
• Maintain regular attendance and good judgment; work with an interdisciplinary team.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
