Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for Cardiac Ablation Solutions in Mounds View, MN. You will lead multidisciplinary systems engineering across hardware, software, disposables, and interfaces, ensuring clear requirements and strong traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

You will partner with Marketing, Clinical, Human Factors and safety teams to translate stakeholder needs into robust system designs, while mentoring engineers and guiding design reviews and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field required.
• 7+ years of relevant experience OR Master's with 5+ years OR PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in medical-device or highly regulated environment with design controls.
• Experience with cardiac electrophysiology, mapping, ablation energy delivery, catheters or related accessories.
• Knowledge of medical-device risk management, usability engineering, software lifecycle, cybersecurity, and quality-system expectations.
• Experience with requirements- and lifecycle-tools (Polarion, Jama Connect, DOORS) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (SysML).
• Mentoring and leadership across global or distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering for complex, multidisciplinary medical-device programs and significant product changes.
• Translate stakeholder needs into clear system-level inputs across hardware, software, disposables, and interfaces.
• Define, evaluate, and maintain system architecture, interfaces, and performance budgets.
• Lead lifecycle management of requirements with traceability and testability.
• Integrate safety, usability, reliability, cybersecurity into design and risk controls.
• Plan architecture reviews, requirements reviews, and technical decision forums.
• Mentor engineers, drive cross-functional problem solving, and influence program decisions.
• Support design changes, regulatory commitments, and lifecycle management.
