Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced Cardiac Sonographer to perform advanced echocardiography, including 3D imaging and strain, and to ensure high-quality cardiac echo data by following established protocols.

The role also includes training of junior staff, potential to work varied shifts including nights and weekends, and on-call responsibilities. RDCS certification and strong cardiac anatomy knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program or equivalent experience.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) (RCS).
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
• Two years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of sonography education and experience.
• Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand physics of ultrasound and demonstrate advanced echocardiography techniques.
• Perform 3D echocardiography, strain imaging, and Doppler measurements, with or without contrast.
• Follow imaging protocols and adjust exams for complete, high quality cardiac echo data.
• Assist in training cardiac sonographers, students and fellows as assigned.
• Work independently, prioritize tasks, and participate in self-directed work teams.
