Job summary

UC San Diego seeks an experienced Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiography, including 3D imaging and Doppler analyses, following protocols to ensure high-quality cardiac echo data. The role requires RDCS/RCS certification and CAAHEP-accredited training, with the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

The candidate will contribute to training staff and may float to multiple labs as needed.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent experience.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS/RCS).
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months.
Two years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills.

Responsibilities

Understand ultrasound physics concepts and apply advanced echocardiographic techniques.
Perform diagnostic recordings, measurements, and calculations of echo and Doppler data.
Identify patients needing ultrasound enhancement agents and administer agents when appropriate.
Train cardiac sonographers and supervise junior staff as assigned.
Flexible scheduling; may work nights, weekends, and travel to other labs.
