Overview

ULTRASOUND TCHNO SR – Department: EC Cardiology. Worksite: East Campus Medical Center (Alvarado Road). Appointment Type: Career. Appointment Percent: 100%. Schedule: Days, 8 hour shifts, Monday - Friday. Total Openings: 1. Extension Deadline: Tue 9/30/2025. Pay Scale: $59.54 - $74.04 / Hour. Annual Full Pay Range: $124,320 - $154,596 (prorated if appointment percentage < 100%).

Responsibilities

Incumbent must understand the physics of ultrasound and demonstrates advanced knowledge of the full range of echocardiographic procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and cardiac abnormalities and disease processes. Perform 3D echocardiography, strain imaging, and apply advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques as assigned or per protocol. Follow established imaging protocols and modify examinations to obtain complete, accurate, high-quality cardiac echo information.

Perform diagnostic recordings, accurate measurements and calculations of echocardiography images and Doppler hemodynamic data (rest and stress), with or without ultrasound enhancement agents. Identify patients requiring enhancement agents, place peripheral intravenous catheters and administer ultrasound enhancement agents per policy. May perform other non-invasive cardiovascular tests including ECG, ambulatory ECG, blood pressures, ambulatory blood pressures and treadmill stress tests. Contribute to work organization and scheduling as a member of a self-directed work team.

Participate in training of cardiac sonographers, students, residents and fellows in echocardiography as assigned. May participate in personnel selection, review studies, train and direct junior level sonographers in new techniques under direction of technical director. Able to work independently and prioritize tasks. Positive communication and listening skills are important. Floats to labs in other clinic locations as needed. May require various shifts including nights and weekends and take call after hours and/or on weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience; CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Two years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of sonography education and experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Adult Congenital and Pediatric experience strongly preferred.

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Capability to perform on-call including weekend when required.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $124,320 - $154,596 (will be prorated if appointment percentage < 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $59.54 - $74.04. Details about compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs. The Hiring Pay Scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay based on internal equity, budget, and bargaining agreements.
