Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Wichita Falls, TX, is seeking a Security Officer III (Canine Handler) to support the Security department. The role involves patrolling the campus, handling a canine partner, and conducting inspections to deter contraband and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Four years or more continuous work experience in law enforcement, security or corrections required.
• Three years or more security experience in a mental health facility required.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule.
• Deploys canine partner in vehicle/building searches and perimeter sweeps; coordinates off-site training.
• Maintains canine partner care (feeding, water, grooming, exercise) and ensures veterinary care.
• Patrols hospital grounds and documents incidents; detains unauthorized individuals as needed.
• Writes security reports and assists in disaster recovery or COOP activation.
