UMass Boston seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate the University's enterprise networking infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability across campuses and facilities.

The role combines strategic engineering with hands-on delivery, focusing on routing, switching, wireless, data center networking, and hybrid cloud connectivity, while pursuing automation and improved customer experience.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, operating, or supporting complex enterprise networking environments.
• Demonstrated experience with enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, wireless networking, physical communications infrastructure, and network security.
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing, operating, and troubleshooting Aruba enterprise networking environments, including Aruba wired and wireless platforms, Aruba Central and/or AirWave, and ClearPass for network access control and policy enforcement.
• Experience with modern enterprise routing technologies such as OSPF, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, or comparable networking architectures.
• Experience supporting enterprise LAN, WAN, cloud, or hybrid networking environments.
• Experience with automation through scripting, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, or comparable technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives, communicate effectively, and collaborate across technical and nontechnical teams.
• Ability to perform the essential work environment, schedule, travel, and physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsabilidades

• Design, implement, operate, and continuously improve the University’s enterprise networking infrastructure.
• Support enterprise networking across L1 to data center, campus LAN/WAN, wireless, and hybrid cloud networking.
• Engineer secure, resilient connectivity across campus, cloud, IoT and research environments.
• Improve networking through automation, lifecycle management, and documentation; reduce technical debt and improve reliability.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor colleagues, and develop engineering standards across IT Services and the University community.
• Exercise independent technical judgment in planning, design, implementation, operation, and improvement of enterprise networking services.
