Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Campaigns Manager to serve as the critical link between campaign strategy and grassroots execution. This role will work closely with the Senior Director of Campaigns to translate high-level campaign goals into actionable plans, while partnering with the Organizing team to ensure strategies are powered by strong grassroots participation. The Senior Campaigns Manager will focus on implementing tactics, mobilizing supporters, and aligning campaign timelines with organizing capacity to win democracy reforms. They will also collaborate with States, External Affairs, Policy, and other teams to advance campaign goals under our four organizational pillars: Voting and Fair Representation, Anti-Corruption and Accountability, Media and Technology, and Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

This is a full-time role reporting to the Senior Director, Campaigns, and is remote anywhere within the lower 48 United States with up to 30% travel around the country to support state campaigns and coalition efforts. We hope our new Senior Campaigns Manager will start in August.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving campaign tactics in alignment with team priorities (e.g., legislative advocacy, digital mobilizations, rapid-response efforts).
  • Managing 1-3 campaigns simultaneously at state, regional, or national levels.
  • Translating campaign plans into clear timelines, deliverables, and roles for the Organizing team.
  • Measuring progress on key campaign metrics and adapting strategies as needed.

Collaborate with the Organizing Team:

  • Partner to align campaign goals with grassroots capacity, ensuring mobilizations are strategically timed and resourced.
  • Develop educational training and resources for volunteers and staff.
  • Coordinate voter contact programs and digital advocacy tools.

Coordinate with other organizational teams:

  • Work with the Policy team to translate legislative priorities into advocacy steps.
  • Ensure campaign messaging is consistent across grassroots materials and public content with External Affairs.
  • Collaborate with State organizations on legislative, regional, and ballot campaigns.
  • Share data and stories with the Development team to demonstrate impact.

Operational Support:

  • Manage budgets for campaign tools.
  • Develop systems to track volunteer engagement and milestones.

Qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Slack, and Zoom.

Required experience:

  • Leading successful advocacy campaigns related to democracy, elections, voting rights, or civil rights.
  • Managing coalitions with diverse interests.
  • Knowledge of federal funders and decision-makers (preferred to have existing relationships).
  • Ability to travel 1-2 times per year and up to 30% for work-related travel.
  • Willingness to maintain a social media presence for the organization.
  • Must not be currently in or running for political office, or affiliated with political party leadership.

Additional information:

  • This position is union-represented, with terms subject to collective bargaining.
  • Unable to sponsor work visas; must provide work authorization documentation in the US.
