Job summary

Motional’s Pittsburgh office seeks a Senior Component Systems Engineer for camera sensors within Vehicle Platform Engineering. You will own development, validation, and production readiness of vision sensors to meet performance, cost, and timing objectives.

You will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams, applying your expertise in optical systems, machine vision, and automotive electronics to drive sensor integration and safety compliance.

Qualifications

7+ years in automotive component design, development and integration.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Optoelectronics or related field.
Knowledge of optical systems and camera components.
Experience with machine vision camera design and integration.
Understanding of ISP pipelines and automotive networks (CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet).
Proficiency in Linux; scripting in Python/C++ for testing and interaction with hardware.
Familiarity with NVIDIA DRIVE systems and lab equipment.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage component-level technical requirements across program lifecycle.
Collaborate with suppliers as internal technical expert for components.
Ensure components meet performance, safety, and reliability specs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with Design Release Engineers to meet program targets.
Validate component functionality with bench and vehicle testing.
Lead issue resolution with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
