Motional in Pittsburgh is seeking a senior engineer to lead the design, integration, and debugging of complex vehicle electrical and networking systems for autonomous vehicles. You will optimize CAN/LIN/Ethernet architectures, perform root-cause analysis, and mentor junior engineers across multiple disciplines.

Your role requires strong Linux troubleshooting, scripting, and deep knowledge of embedded systems, with a focus on reliability, safety, and scalable data handling.

Qualifications

• Expert-level knowledge of vehicle electrical and networking systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and communication protocols.
• Proven track record in root-cause analysis and systematic issue isolation for hardware-software integration problems.
• Extensive experience with Linux terminal troubleshooting, scripting, and low-level diagnostics.
• Deep understanding of embedded systems, processing units, and networking hardware.
• Ability to author and maintain detailed design specifications, test reports, and validation plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and integration of electrical and mechanical systems for autonomous vehicles.
• Architect and optimize vehicle electrical/networking systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) for data throughput and scalability.
• Diagnose and resolve complex intermittent failures using high-end debugging tools and PC-based simulators.
• Mentor junior engineers on system triage, troubleshooting, and validation practices.
• Develop and execute comprehensive integration test plans and coordinate cross-disciplinary efforts.
