Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Sensor Hardware Safety Engineer to own the end-to-end safety strategy for camera, LiDAR, radar, and IMU sensor systems across its Automotive platforms.

You will collaborate with sensor architects, board designers, software teams, and validation engineers to define rigorous safety requirements, perform analyses, and drive robust hardware safety implementations for safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of automotive sensors, hardware systems, functional safety, or related field.
  • Understanding of automotive sensor technologies (cameras, radar, LiDAR, IMUs) and their hardware architectures.
  • Knowledge of safety analysis methodologies (FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, FTA).
  • Ability to work with sensor suppliers and multidisciplinary teams from concept through integration and verification.
  • Proven ownership with proactive, results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end sensor hardware safety strategy for cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMUs and other sensors in NVIDIA automotive systems.
  • Support sensor supplier selection through technical and safety evaluations.
  • Define and manage sensor hardware safety requirements (power, interfaces, timing, synchronization, data integrity, fault detection, fault response).
  • Collaborate with sensor architects, board and system designers, software teams, and validation engineers on safety implementations.
  • Perform and review safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, FTA) to guide architecture decisions.
  • Work with third-party suppliers to evaluate safety manuals and evidence for sensor integration.
  • Develop clear safety documentation, integration guidance, and user-facing safety information.
